How have the Blackhawks been spending their offseason? chicagoblackhawks.com recently sat down with your favorite players to see how their summer has gone so far and discuss some of their aspirations for the 2011-12 NHL campaign. chicagoblackhawks.com caught up with winger Marian Hossa, who scored 57 points (25G, 32A) in 65 regular-season games last season.
What did you do this summer?
I just relaxed with my family and played some golf. It was basically low key—we took a quick vacation in Turkey.
Do you have a favorite offseason hobby?
I like to play a lot of golf.
You mentioned that you went to Turkey. Is that one of your favorite vacation spots?
Turkey isn’t my favorite, but it was a two-hour flight [from Slovakia] so it was really quick, in and out. There are so many nice, beautiful places. We went to the Maldives, and that was one of my favorite spots.
Did you keep in touch with any of your teammates?
Just here and there, quick text messages.
Did you work on any hockey skills in particular?
I played lots of ball hockey. It’s good for conditioning and hand-eye coordination, so it’s a mix of everything there, and I think it’s great.
What’s your personal goal for the season?
Definitely playing at least 80 games, being healthy and helping win hockey games.
