How have the Blackhawks been spending their offseason? chicagoblackhawks.com recently sat down with your favorite players to see how their summer has gone so far and discuss some of their aspirations for the 2012-23 NHL campaign.
What did you do this summer? Did you stay home or go on vacation?
I didn't really go on any vacations. I’ve just been at home [in Winnipeg] at the lake with the family. I have friends out every weekend, and it’s been awesome. I get to go fishing and wakesurfing on the back of the boat every day, pretty much. It’s been a blast. I’ve got a gym on my property, so I can work out every day. It’s really perfect.
What’s the best thing you’ve done so far?
I moved apartments here in Chicago, and I’m really happy about my new place, so I’m excited about that.
Did you keep in touch with or hang out with any teammates?
Shooting a couple texts here and there—Hossa to see how he’s doing, Seabs and Sharpie and a couple of those guys. Dave Bolland got married earlier this summer, so I saw a few guys.
What’s your personal goal for next season?
I want to be healthy. I worked really hard last summer and was ready to have the best year of my career, but there were injuries and stuff. I want to come in and be strong and healthy and make sure that I’m ready to withstand anything.
