RECAP: Fleury Leads Blackhawks to Victory in Vegas, 2-1

In his return to Vegas for the first time since being acquired by the Blackhawks last summer, Marc-Andre Fleury backstopped his new team to its first victory of 2022 on Saturday night, 2-1.
The Golden Knights squeaked their third shot of the game past the veteran netminder through traffic off a faceoff, but he was perfect the rest of the way to earn the win in his former home building, where he registered 65 in his four seasons in Vegas. All told, Fleury made 30 saves on 31 shots on a special night on the strip.
Jujhar Khaira and Riley Stillman scored the second-period goals to lead the comeback victory for the Blackhawks.

STAT OF THE NIGHT: In addition to netting the second-period equalizer, Khaira registered 10 hits on the night, the second most in a game this season for the Blackhawks (11- Reese Johnson vs. ARI on Nov. 12) and tied for third-most by a player in an NHL game just season.

1st - 5:17 - Ben Hutton (Nolan Patrick)

Vegas took the opening lead early in the first off an offensive zone draw. Nolan Patrick won a duel cleanly back to the point, where Ben Hutton put a quick wrister on net through traffic, rising over the shoulder of Marc-Andre Fleury and just under the bar for a 1-0 lead.

2nd - 4:38 - Jujhar Khaira (Ryan Carpenter)

Chicago answered at nearly the same mark in the second period as Jujhar Khaira netted his third of the season off the rush. Not to be overlooked among former Golden Knigihts on the night, Ryan Carpenter sprung the winger with a breakout pass from his own end, with Khaira skating the puck across the blue line and then beating Robin Lehner on the blocker side for a 1-1 equalizer.

2nd - 14:21 - Riley Stillman (Dylan Strome, Patrick Kane)

Riley Stillman notched his first of the season to put the visitors in front before the end of the period. Dylan Strome cycled the puck to the blueliner, who waited for traffic to develop in front before putting a long-range wrister on goal. His shot redirected off of Brett Howden in front and past Robin Lehner for a 2-1 lead.
