Byfuglien Named AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American Hockey League announced today that Rockford IceHogs defenseman Dustin Byfuglien has been named the Rbk/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending October 21, 2007. Byfuglien recorded one goal, five assists and a plus-4 rating in four games as Rockford rolled into first place in the West Division by going 3-0-1-0 on the week.

Byfuglien made his 2007-08 season debut on Oct. 16 and recorded a goal and an assist to help the IceHogs to a 4-2 win at San Antonio. The next night, he assisted on both of Rockford’s third-period goals in a 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Houston. On Oct. 19 at Chicago, Byfuglien had another assist as the IceHogs dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to the Wolves, and on Oct. 20, he set up the game-winning goal in a 5-1 victory in Grand Rapids.
