In conjunction with NBC Chicago, the Chicago Blackhawks announced today the airing of the third episode of the Emmy-Award winning Blackhawks TV, an all-access, thirty-minute television show that includes a variety of segments highlighting the players’ personalities off the ice. The third installment of the 2010-11 season can be seen on NBC Chicago on Sunday, February 20 at 10:30 A.M.
The episode debuts brand new, exclusive footage never before seen on TV or chicagoblackhawks.com, including an all-new Valentine’s Day-themed report from “Joey The Junior Reporter,” and a behind the scenes look at the National Hockey League All-Star Weekend with footage shot by the team’s participants. The episode also features a segment with Patrick Kane
and Jonathan Toews
and their mothers, focusing on their youth hockey days, and an all-access look at the festivities during the weekend celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the 1961 Stanley Cup Championship team.
Blackhawks TV will lead into the NHL on NBC celebrating “Hockey Day in America,” which includes a national pre-game show live from Chicago’s Millennium Park. The Blackhawks host the Pittsburgh Penguins at the United Center on Sunday at 2:30 P.M., a game that can be seen both locally and nationally on NBC as its “NHL Game of the Week.”
The television debut of Blackhawks TV ran on Comcast SportsNet on December 25, 2009, one of four original episodes that ran during the 2009-10 Stanley Cup Championship season. Blackhawks TV earned an Emmy Award from the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in November in Category 13-c: Outstanding Achievement for Sports Programs - Sports Program Series Covering Sports of Based on a Sports Theme.
Also located on chicagoblackhawks.com, Blackhawks TV led the National Hockey League during the 2009-10 season with more than 12 million video starts. The upcoming February 20 episode will be available on chicagoblackhawks.com immediately after it debuts on NBC Chicago.
