TSN's Bob McKenzie reported on the first round of cuts from Hockey Canada's preliminary roster late on Friday night. Blackhawks 2018 first-round pick Nicolas Beaudin was among the cuts.
The remaining Blackhawks representatives are forward MacKenzie Entwistle and defenseman Ian Mitchell. There are expected to be a few more cuts to the forward group ahead of the Dec. 25 deadline.
Mitchell, who is reportedly among the seven remaining Canada defenders, was selected 57th overall in the second round of the 2017 draft. He is currently playing for the University of Denver. The blueliner has two goals and nine assists through 14 games.
Entwistle has 15 goals and 12 assists in 29 games for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League. The forward was originally a third-round selection of Arizona in 2017, but was acquired by the Blackhawks via trade.
The 2019 World Junior Championships will begin on Dec. 26, and end on Jan. 5, 2019.
