The Chicago Blackhawks used the 27th overall pick to select defenseman Nicolas Beaudin (NIH-koh-la boh-DEHN).
The 5'11', 172-pound blueliner is ranked 31st among North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting. He was named to the QMJHL Second All-Star Team in 2017-18 after tying for second in points for a defenseman. He had 69 (12G, 57A) in 68 games for Drummondville.
He won a Quebec Midget AAA Championship with the Chateauguay Grenadiers in 2014-15, recording 13 points in 16 playoff games.
The young blueliner says he models his style of play after Toronto defenseman Jake Gardiner.
