Blackhawks Trade Smolinski For 2nd Round Pick

General Manager Dale Tallon announced tonight that the Blackhawks traded center Bryan Smolinski to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Vancouver's 2nd round draft pick in either 2007 or 2008. The Blackhawks have also recalled defenseman Danny Richmond from the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL.

Smolinski was acquired by the Blackhawks on July 10, 2006 in a 3-way deal with the Ottawa Senators that also brought winger Martin Havlat to the Blackhawks. Smolinski appeared in all 62 games for the Blackhawks this season scoring 14 goals and adding 23 assists for 37 points with 29 penalty minutes and a +10 rating.

The Blackhawks will receive a 2nd round draft choice from the Vancouver Canucks in either 2007 or 2008.

The Blackhawks have also recalled defenseman Danny Richmond from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Richmond has appeared in 52 games for Norfolk this season scoring 10 goals, five on the power play, while adding 24 assists for 34 points with 138 penalty minutes and a +10 rating.

Richmond had been recalled by the Blackhawks earlier this season appearing in four games for the Blackhawks and did not score.
