The Chicago Blackhawks will wear authentic camouflage jerseys during warm-ups on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, before hosting the Calgary Flames at the United Center at 7:30 P.M. This marks the third consecutive year the Blackhawks will wear the jerseys in support of the USO of Illinois and those that serve or have served in the military.
These one-of-a-kind jerseys will be autographed by the player that sports them and auctioned online at chicagoblackhawks.com until November 17 (ending at 9:00 P.M.), with all proceeds benefitting the USO of Illinois. In addition, autographed camouflage jerseys of Blackhawks Ambassadors Tony Esposito, Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and Denis Savard will also be available in the auction.
The Blackhawks will also host an official enlistment ceremony for all branches of service of the military during the first intermission where over 20 service members will recite a one-minute oath. Several Blackhawks Season Ticket Holders and other fans donated their tickets to allow these military members and their guests the opportunity to attend Friday’s tilt.
“Once again this year, the USO of Illinois is honored to share in the patriotic support for our nation's service members and veterans through our great partners at the Chicago Blackhawks and Boeing,” said USO of Illinois President and COO, Alison Ruble. “Now, more than ever, America's military and military families need our support. The jersey auction initiative has true impact. It not only helps the USO continue to provide vital programs and services to our troops and their families year-round, but it also empowers Blackhawks fans with a unique way to give back to those who sacrifice so much for us. Our sincere thanks go out to the fans, the Chicago Blackhawks and The Boeing Company."
