The Chicago Blackhawks announced today the opening of their flagship retail store, the Blackhawks Store, at 333 North Michigan Avenue. The project, designed by Chipman Design Architecture and constructed by Clune Construction, transformed the landmark location into a 5,000 square-foot, two-story retail location at one of the most highly-trafficked locations in Chicago at the intersection of Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue. The Blackhawks Store, located in the northwest portion of the building and facing east with a view of Michigan Avenue, will open to the public on Friday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m.
“We are extremely proud to bring this unprecedented, high-end retail presence to this premiere Chicago location,” said Blackhawks President & CEO John McDonough. “Unlike anything else in professional sports, the Blackhawks Store is more than just a place for fans to buy merchandise – it’s an experience.”
The two-story retail location is equipped to host live radio and television broadcasts and features over 20 video screens with up-to-the-minute Blackhawks content, including live games. Three interactive touchscreens, created by the Montreal-based Moment Factory, are located on the second floor of the Blackhawks Store and allow fans to play Blackhawks trivia and view franchise history and current player information.
Additionally, Dimensional Innovations developed a green screen utilizing augmented reality technology, which provides fans with the chance to take photos with their favorite players virtually at four United Center locations, including at center ice and in the Blackhawks locker room, and share them via social media.
State-of-the-art audio and visual displays, provided by Panasonic, are located throughout the store, including a 12-screen video wall. Custom Signs created a one-of-a-kind Blackhawks wall installation from hockey sticks, in addition to outdoor signage and window displays.
Fans will have access to exclusive merchandise and custom-made jerseys at the Blackhawks Store. Over 30 new brands will be available, along with expanded women’s and children’s retail lines. Historical Blackhawks memorabilia will be on display throughout, and fans can purchase photographs and game-used items.
The first 25 guests to make a purchase during the grand opening on Friday, Oct. 10, will receive a signed jersey; the next 100 guests to make a purchase will receive a commemorative puck. Fans who visit the store on Saturday, Oct. 11, will have the chance to enter to win tickets to that night’s game vs. the Buffalo Sabres, in addition to an autograph signing with Tony Esposito. The Blackhawks Store will be open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
