Blackhawks to meet Wild in Western Conference Quarterfinals

The Chicago Blackhawks will launch the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the team’s fifth consecutive appearance in the postseason, when they face the Minnesota Wild in the best-of-seven Western Conference Quarterfinals (Series E) beginning with Game 1 at the United Center on Tuesday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. and Game 2 on Friday, May 3 at 8:30 p.m.

Games 3 and 4 will be held at the Xcel Energy Center on Sunday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 7 at 8:30 p.m. If necessary, the Blackhawks will host Game 5 on Thursday, May 9 (time TBD), the Wild will host Game 6 on Saturday, May 11 (time TBD) and the Blackhawks will host Game 7 on Sunday, May 12 (time TBD). All times listed are Central.

The Blackhawks finished the 2012-13 regular season with the NHL’s best record (36-7-5), marking the first time since 1990-91 that Chicago clinched the Presidents’ Trophy and fourth time in franchise history that the team has finished atop the league standings (1966-67, 1969-70, 1990-91). For the first time since 1992-97, Chicago has reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs for five consecutive seasons.

Chicago posted a 2-0-1 record against eighth-seeded Minnesota during the regular season. This marks the first-ever Stanley Cup Playoff matchup between Chicago and the Wild franchise.
