The Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, in conjunction with the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI), are sponsoring an Illinois entry in the Brick Super Novice Invitational Hockey Tournament for the second consecutive year in 2010. The Junior Blackhawks, a team of 9 and 10-year-old hockey players, will skate in the competition beginning on June 29 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Coached by Blackhawks Ambassador and Hockey Hall-of-Famer Denis Savard, the roster features 15 skaters from the Chicagoland area: Tyler Carpenter (Palatine), Hunter Carrick (Orland Park), Jack Drury (Wilmette), Zach Dubinsky (Deerfield), Calvin Dybicz (Elk Grove Village), Nicholas Grabko (Channahon), Curtis Hall (Chagrin Falls, Ohio), Blade Jenkins (Jackson, Michigan), Chase Johnson (Bartlett), Philippe Lapointe (Hinsdale), Aidan Mann (Elmhurst), Connor McCue (Gurnee), Jack Randl (Carpentersville), Mason Smith (Wilmette), Will Spitzer (Lincolnshire), Adam Steinwold (Lake Forest), and Danny Sterne (Batavia).
The Brick Super Novice Invitational Hockey Tournament will take place from June 29 to July 4, 2010 at the West Edmonton Mall. Twelve all-star teams from North America, representing California, Connecticut, Detroit, Edmonton, Illinois, Minnesota, Montreal, Saskatchewan, Toronto, Winnipeg, and Vancouver, will participate.
