Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have signed forward Dave Bolland to a 3-year contract.
Bolland, 19, 6'0", 176 pound center was selected by the Blackhawks in the 2nd round, 32nd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. This season (2005-06), Bolland appeared in 59 regular season games for the London Knights scoring 57 goals and 73 assists for 130 points and 104 penalty minutes while posting a plus/minus rating of plus-7. He played in 15 playoff games this season recording 15 goals and nine assists for 24 points and 41 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of plus-4. Bolland tied for 1st in the OHL in goals (57) and ranked 2nd in the league in scoring (130 points).
Bolland also played for Team Canada at the 2006 World Junior Championships scoring three goals and two assists for five points and 14 penalty minutes in six games en route to capturing a Gold Medal.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Bolland spent four seasons (2002-03 to 2005-06) playing for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. In his four seasons with the Knights, he appeared in 254 career regular season games recording 135 goals and 164 assists for 299 points and 280 penalty minutes. Bolland also skated in 62 career playoff games for the Knights recording 31 goals and 34 assists for 65 points and 91 penalty minutes.
A member of the 2005 Memorial Cup Champion London Knights, Bolland was also honored with his selection to the 2005-06 OHL First Team All-Star.
