General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks cut their roster down to 22 players by sending seven players to the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL.
The Blackhawks sent forwards Michael Blunden, Brandon Bochenski, Dave Bolland and Jonas Nordqvist to the Admirals. Defensemen Dustin Byfuglien, Danny Richmond, and James Wisniewski were also assigned to Norfolk.
The Blackhawks roster of 22 players includes two goaltenders, six defensemen, and 14 forwards. The Blackhawks have three players currently on the injured list in goaltender Patrick Lalime, defenseman Cam Barker, and forward Tuomo Ruutu.
The Blackhawks begin their 80th NHL season on Thursday night when they visit Nashville to take on the Predators.
The Blackhawks will play their home opener on Saturday night when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7:30 pm.
