The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Spencer Abbott from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.

Abbott shares the team lead with 21 points (8G, 13A) in 30 games with Rockford this season. The Hamilton, Ontario, native has registered points (2G, 4A) in four straight games dating back to Dec. 26, including multi-point efforts over his last two outings.

The 28-year-old made his NHL debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 5, 2013, his only NHL appearance. Abbott has posted 169 points (57G, 112A) in 217 career AHL games across five seasons (2011-15, 2016-17). He spent the 2015-16 season in the Swedish Hockey League with the Frolunda Indians where he notched 14 goals and 21 assists in 42 games.

Abbott was signed as a free agent by Chicago on July 1, 2016.

The Blackhawks return to action Thursday when they host the Buffalo Sabres at 7:30 p.m. at the United Center. The game can be seen on CSN, streamed live online at CSNChicago.com (CSNChicago.com/BlackhawksStream) and the NBC Sports App, and heard on WGN Radio.
