The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Ben Smith from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Smith, 23, shares fifth in the AHL with four power-play goals, ranks second on the IceHogs with six markers and has tallied ten points (6G, 4A) in nine games this season with Rockford. The Winston-Salem, North Carolina, native made his National Hockey League debut with Chicago last season, collecting one goal in six regular-season contests before notching three goals in seven Stanley Cup Playoff tilts. Originally selected by the Blackhawks in the sixth round (169th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Smith ranked second on Rockford with 19 goals and eighth with 31 points (19G, 12A) in 63 regular-season AHL contests in 2010-11 during his professional debut.

The Blackhawks will take on the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome at 8:00 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 18.  The game will be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet Chicago and WGN Radio AM-720.
