The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Brandon Pirri (PEER-ee) from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Pirri, 20, paced Chicago with four goals and five points (G, 4A) in four games during the 2011 preseason. Originally selected by the Blackhawks in the second round (59th overall) of the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft, he made his NHL debut on Oct. 9, 2010 at the United Center when Chicago opened the 2010 regular-season against Detroit. The Toronto native ranked third on Rockford with 31 assists and fourth with 43 points in 70 regular-season AHL tilts in his professional debut last season.

Chicago opens the 2011-12 National Hockey League regular-season on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. when they visit the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center.  The game will be broadcast locally on Comcast SportsNet Chicago and can be heard on WGN Radio AM-720.
