The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Dylan Olsen
from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs, and placed defenseman Steve Montador
on Injured Reserve.
Olsen, 21, made his National Hockey League debut on Jan. 5 and registered four shots on goal, five hits and one blocked shot in two games with Chicago. The Blackhawks first selection (28th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft has posted four goals, three assists and 44 penalty minutes in 44 regular-season tilts this year with the IceHogs in his first full professional campaign. The Calgary, Alberta, native has tallied five (3G, 2A) of his seven points this year in the 14 contests since being reassigned from Chicago in early January.
Montador, 32, has recorded 14 points (5G, 9A), 45 penalty minutes and a +4 plus/minus rating in 51 regular-season games in his first season in the Blackhawks organization. The Vancouver, British Columbia, native has recorded 131 points (33G, 98A), a +31 rating and 807 penalty minutes in 570 regular-season tilts over parts of ten NHL seasons, and eight points (3G, 5A) and a +11 rating in 43 career Stanley Cup Playoffs contests.
The Blackhawks will take on the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavilion tonight (Feb. 10) at 9:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast locally on WGN Channel 9 and can be heard on WGN Radio AM-720.
