The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Joakim Nordstrom
(JOH-keem NORD-struhm) from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
Nordstrom, 22, has earned two points (1g, 1a) in 10 games with the Blackhawks this season. He made his National Hockey League debut on Oct. 1 vs. Washington and scored his first career goal on Oct. 11 vs. the New York Islanders.
The Stockholm, Sweden, native has posted 33 points (17g, 16a) in 58 AHL games with Rockford this season, ranking ninth overall and third among team rookies. He ranks second on the team in goals and shares fifth in power-play tallies (four). He has scored a career-high two goals twice, including a career-best three point (2g, 1a) outing on Jan. 4 vs. Grand Rapids. Nordstrom posted a career-long nine-game point streak (4g, 8a) from Dec. 20 to Jan. 8.
Nordstrom has earned 36 points (17g, 19a) in 69 career games with Rockford from 2013 to 2014.
