Blackhawks recall Schmaltz

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Nick Schmaltz from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.

Schmaltz has tallied nine points (6G, 3A) in 12 games with the IceHogs this season and currently has a four-game point streak (2G, 2A). He also collected four points (1G, 3A) in 26 games with the Blackhawks this year. Schmaltz made his National Hockey League debut on Oct. 12 vs. St. Louis and notched his first career NHL goal three games later against Nashville on Oct. 15. The Verona, Wis., native was selected by the Blackhawks in the first round (20th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.

The Blackhawks return to action on Sunday when they host the Minnesota Wild at 6 p.m. The game can be seen on NBCSN and heard on WGN Radio.
