The Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled defenseman Danny Richmond from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Richmond was acquired last Friday from the Carolina Hurricanes along with a 4th round pick in 2006 in exchange for defenseman Anton Babchuk and a 4th round pick in 2007.
Richmond reported to Norfolk where he appeared in 2 games and scored 1 goal with 2 penalty minutes before his recall.
Before being acquired by the Blackhawks, Richmond had split the season between Lowell in the AHL and the Carolina Hurricanes. For Carolina, he appeared in 10 games and had 1 assist with 7 penalty minutes. For Lowell, he had appeared in 32 games scoring 4 goals and adding 11 assists for 15 points with 60 penalty minutes. He was named to the AHL Planet USA All-Star Team for 2006.
Richmond was also a member of the Team USA World Junior Championship team that captured the Gold Medal in 2004. In fact, he had a pair of assists in the Gold Medal game in a 4-3 win over Canada.
