Blackhawks Re-Assign Dustin Byfuglien

General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have assigned defensemen Dustin Byfuglien to Norfolk in the AHL.

Byfuglien played in last night's game at Columbus taking the place of defenseman Adrian Aucoin whose wife, Caroline, delivered a baby boy, Cameron, yesterday afternoon. Byfuglien has played in 7 games for the Blackhawks this season posting 2 assists and 6 penalty minutes.

Byfuglien has appeared in 52 games for the Norfolk Admirals this season scoring 14 goals and adding 22 assists for 36 points with 107 penalty minutes and a +10 rating.

Originally the Blackhawks' 8th round selection (245th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Byfuglien made his NHL debut last season when he appeared in 25 games for the Blackhawks and scored three goals and five points with 24 penalty minutes. In his first career NHL game on March 1, 2006 versus the Nashville Predators, Byfuglien scored his first NHL goal which turned out to be the game winner in a 3-0 Blackhawk victory.
