The Chicago Blackhawks have established a preseason franchise record tonight by hosting a capacity crowd of 20,553 fans at the United Center for their game against the Detroit Red Wings. Prior to Saturday’s contest, the previous preseason record was set on September 19, 2009 when Chicago hosted 19,734 fans for their contest against the Washington Capitals.
A limited number of tickets are available for Chicago’s two remaining home preseason games on Oct. 1 (vs. Pittsburgh) and Oct. 3 (vs. St. Louis). For more information, log on to chicagoblackhawks.com
The Blackhawks have paced the NHL in average attendance per game each of the last two seasons, which includes leading the league with an average of 21,357 fans per game in 40 home dates at the United Center in 2009-10. Chicago has hosted 102 consecutive capacity crowds at the United Center dating back to the end of the 2007-08 regular season (excluding preseason games).
