The Chicago Blackhawks have earned their first Stanley Cup Playoff series win since 1996 after defeating the Calgary Flames, 4-1, at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Game 6 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on Monday night. The Blackhawks knocked off the Flames, 4-games-to-2, in the series.
Chicago’s last series victory occurred in the 1996 Western Conference Quarterfinals when the club swept Calgary, 4-games-to-0. The Blackhawks, who are currently making their 54th all-time appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, will face off against either the Vancouver Canucks or San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference Semifinals, with dates and times to be determined.
