The Chicago Blackhawks have clinched a spot in the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, marking the franchise’s fourth consecutive postseason berth, as a result of the club’s 5-4 victory over the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena.
The 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs will mark the first time in 15 years the Blackhawks will make four consecutive postseason appearances. Chicago currently ranks sixth in the Western Conference and eighth overall in the NHL with 97 points (44-26-9) with three games remaining on their regular-season slate.
The Blackhawks reached the Western Conference Final in 2009, won the Stanley Cup in 2010 and fell in a seven-game Western Conference Quarterfinals series in 2011.
Chicago will host the Minnesota Wild at the United Center on Sunday, April 1 at 6 p.m. The game can be seen locally on WGN-TV Channel 9 and heard on WGN Radio AM-720.
