NORFOLK, VA - Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon today announced that right wing Matt Keith has been loaned to the Norfolk Admirals.
Keith, 23, had appeared in two games with the Blackhawks going scoreless with four penalty minutes this season. The 6'2", 204 lb. right wing from Edmonton, Alberta, played in 72 games for Norfolk last season, posting 26 goals and 19 assists for 45 points and 61 penalty minutes. He also appeared in two games for the Blackhawks in 2005-06 and he did not score.
For his career, Keith has played 218 games as an Admiral with 57 goals and 63 assists for 120 points and 192 penalty minutes. He has also added one goal and four assists in 17 playoff games for Norfolk. He ranks third on the Admirals' all-time goal scoring list with 57 goals, trailing only Casey Hankinson (76) and Ajay Baines (68). He also ranks seventh in games played (218), sixth in assists (63) and points (120), second in power play goals (21) and tied for second in game-winning goals (10).
The Blackhawks' second round selection (59th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft has appeared in 24 NHL games in his career - all with the Blackhawks - tallying two goals and three assists for five points and 14 penalty minutes.
The Admirals have a pair of contests at Norfolk Scope this weekend as they host the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL Affiliate of the New York Rangers) on Friday and Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
