The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have assigned defenseman Gustav Forsling and forward Spencer Abbott to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Forsling has scored one goal and three assists in 32 games in his first season with the Blackhawks. He netted his first career NHL goal on Nov. 13 vs. Montreal. A native of Linkoping, Sweden, Forsling was originally acquired by Chicago via a trade with Vancouver on Jan. 29, 2015 for Adam Clendening.

Abbott appeared in one game with the Blackhawks this season after being recalled from Rockford on Tuesday. The Hamilton, Ontario native was originally signed as a free agent on July 1, 2016.

The Blackhawks return to action tonight when they host the Carolina Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. at the United Center. The game can be seen on CSN, streamed live online at CSNChicago.com (CSNChicago.com/BlackhawksStream) and the NBC Sports App, and heard on WGN Radio.
