Blackhawks Assign Byfuglien To Rockford

Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that defenseman Dustin Byfuglien has been assigned to the Blackhawks American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.

Byfuglien, 22, picked up four penalty minutes in two pre-season games for the Blackhawks. Last season, Byfuglien split time between the Blackhawks and Norfolk(AHL). While with the Blackhawks, Byfuglien scored one goal and added two assists in nine games. Byfuglien played in 63 games in Norfolk scoring 16 goals with 28 assists for 44 points and also piling up 146 penalty minutes.

The Blackhawks roster currently stands at 23 active players. The Blackhawks play their opening game of the 2007-08 regular season in Minnesota against the Wild on Thursday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. CDT.
