The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have activated defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson from injured reserve.
Hjalmarsson, 29, has registered 14 points in 60 games with the Blackhawks this season, including a career-high five goals. The Eksjo, Sweden, native ranks third in the National Hockey League with 156 blocked shots this season. He was placed on the injured reserve on Feb. 28, retroactive to Feb. 23.
Chicago's fourth round (108th overall) draft choice in 2005, Hjalmarsson has amassed 23 goals and 116 assists in 610 career NHL games - all with the Blackhawks.
