by Staff Writer / Chicago Blackhawks

Blackhawk players Mark Bell and Jim Vandermeer are scheduled to appear at Players, 551 N. Ogden, Chicago's newest sports bar on the west side from 7-9 pm on Thursday, February 23. The appearance by Bell and Vandermeer is part of a national campaign to raise money for the New Orleans Hospitality Workers Disaster Relief Fund.

As part of hosting the event, Bell and Vandermeer will meet with fans and sign autographs and serve as celebrity hosts. A minimum $10 donation to the workers disaster relief fund is suggested for admission to the event and includes sports and hospitality raffle prizes and a live band. Attendees must be 21 years old or older.

Both players are recognized as young leaders of this year's Chicago Blackhawk team. Vandermeer recently joined Bell as one of the teams' assistant captains.

Bell is in his fifth season with the Blackhawks and has appeared in every game during the last three NHL seasons. Vandermeer is in his first full season with the Blackhawks after being acquired during the 2003-04 season.
