Barker To Miss 4-6 Weeks

by Staff Writer / Chicago Blackhawks

Defenseman Cam Barker has suffered a setback in his bid for a roster spot this season.

Barker underwent an MRI today that revealed a fractured ankle. The 2004 1st round pick is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Barker, a leading contender for the open spot on Chicago's blue line, injured the ankle last season playing for Medicine Hat in the Western Hockey League. He did not participate in the Blackhawks' informal skate to kick off camp Thursday afternoon.

Barker appeared in just 26 games last season with Medicine Hat due to the ankle injury, but returned for the playoffs where he recorded 4 goals and 8 assists in 13 games.

Visit this afternoon for more on the Barker story.
