The Admirals took the lead just 37 seconds into the second stanza. Richmond's shot made its way through traffic untouched and past a screened Guard.

Just two minutes later with Norfolk on a two-man advantage, Martin St. Pierre feathered a cross-ice pass to Carl Corazzini, who buried a shot from the left circle blocker side at 2:49.

Colin Fraser made it 4-1 Admirals when he stole the puck at the Binghamton blue line and skated in alone on Guard, deking before sending a shot past the netminder at 18:10.

The Norfolk advantage grew to four goals with 11 seconds remaining in the second period. Brandon Bochenski was hauled down on a partial breakaway and crashed into the net. Troy Brouwer poked the puck past Guard as he was checked to the ice to make it 5-1 Norfolk after two periods.

Richmond tallied his second goal of the night 4:06 into the third period on the power play. He sped down the right wing and sent a backhander past new Binghamton puckstopper Jeff Glass from the bottom of the right circle.
