3rd Star: D Adam Clendening, Rockford (AHL)
The Line: 3GP, 1G, 2A

The IceHogs’ leading scorer so far this season, Clendening continued to demonstrate his offensive abilities, tallying points in each of Rockford’s three outings last week. The 2011 second-round draft pick scored his third goal of the season on Nov. 6 at Grand Rapids, then collected an assist in both games against Iowa over the weekend; Clendening’s 12 helpers share fourth in the AHL.

Honorable mentions: D Travis Brown, Moose Jaw (WHL); G Mac Carruth, Toledo (ECHL)

Brown scored a goal on Friday against Saskatoon and recorded an assist the next night in the return game; his 17 assists and 24 points continue to lead the Warriors and share second among Western Hockey League blueliners.

Carruth made 37 saves on 40 shots in one start this week, a 4-3 overtime win at Florida on Saturday. The 2010 seventh-round pick also stopped all nine shots he faced in relief the next night; his .933 save percentage ranks eighth among ECHL netminders this season, while his 2.25 goals-against average shares 14th (min. 2 GS).

Around the system:

  • Center Luke Johnson scored his first collegiate goal for North Dakota on Saturday in a 4-2 loss at Nebraska-Omaha. In his freshman year, the 2013 draft pick shares fifth on the team with four points (1G, 3A) in eight games.

  • Goalie Matt Tomkins started both games for Ohio State over the weekend, but was forced to leave Saturday’s tilt after suffering an injury in the opening minutes. Tomkins picked up his fifth victory of the season the night before, making 29 saves on 30 shots in a 4-1 result over Niagara.

  • Terry Broadhurst registered a goal and an assist for Rockford in the 3-1 win over Iowa on Friday. He assisted on the game-winning goal by Brad Winchester before notching an insurance goal in the third period...
