3 Stars of the Week: Goals for DeBrincat, Iacopelli

On Mondays, will highlight players who stood out for their minor-league, junior, college or European teams in the previous week's action. All prospect/system stats will be updated weekly throughout the season.

1st Star: RW Alex DeBrincat, Erie Otters (OHL)
The Line: 3GP, 5G, 6A

DeBrincat, who just signed his entry-level contract earlier today, exploded for 11 points (5G, 6A) in three games last week. He picked up three points in a 5-4 win over Guelph on Wednesday and three more in a 7-4 victory over Mississauga on Friday before finishing the week with a five-point performance against Kitchener to set a season high. DeBrincat, a two-time 50-goal scorer, now has 17 goals in 14 games, most in the Ontario Hockey League, and ranks second with 35 points.

2nd Star: RW Matheson Iacopelli, Western Michigan University (NCHC)
The Line: 2GP, 4G, 1A

Iacopelli extended his scoring streak to three games with a pair of goals in each game of a weekend sweep over Miami. He compiled 11 shots on goal over that span and continues to lead the team with 40 shots on goal, averaging 5 per game. Iacopelli paces the NCHC and shares second in the nation with nine goals in eight games this season.

3rd Star: C John Hayden, Yale University (ECAC)
The Line: 2GP, 2G

Hayden scored the game-tying goal as well as the overtime winner for Yale in a 3-2 comeback victory over RPI. The senior captain now has three goals in his first three games of the year and paces the Bulldogs with 12 shots on goal. All three of Hayden's tallies have come with the man advantage.

  • Radovan Bondra netted a pair of goals for the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Giants in a 7-3 win over Lethbridge on Saturday; he paces the team with 11 goals and ranks second with 16 points in 17 games this season ... John Dahlstrom recorded two goals in three games with the WHL's Medicine Hat Tigers last week; he shares third on the team with 19 points (8G, 11A) this season.

  • Senior forward Chris Calnan tallied his second goal of the season for Boston College in a 6-1 win over Maine on Friday and now has seven points in 10 games this year ... Junior center Dylan Sikura netted his third goal of the year for Northeastern in a 4-4 tie with Boston University on Friday ... Huskies defenseman Ryan Shea assisted on the game-tying goal in that outing and now has four points in nine games in his freshman campaign.

  • Anthony Louis collected points in all of the University of Miami's goals in a 6-3 loss to Western Michigan on Friday, posting two goals and an assist in the contest. The 2013 sixth-round pick now paces the team with seven goals and ranks second with 11 points in nine games this season ... Nebraska-Omaha defenseman Luc Snuggerud tallied his third goal of the season in a 6-4 win over Colorado College on Saturday; he has five points in eight games this year ... Cornell sophomore Beau Starrett picked up his first point of the year on Saturday, an assist in a 4-3 loss to Harvard.

  • Defenseman Cameron Schilling scored both of Rockford's goals last week as the IceHogs were held to just two in three outings; the 28-year-old now has three goals and four points this season ... Spencer Abbott, Mark McNeill and Sam Carrick each recorded an assist last week ... Goaltender Lars Johansson went 0-2-1-0 in three starts, but stopped 67 of 73 shots over that span; he has a .913 save percentage and 2.42 goals-against average in nine appearances this season.
