Blackhawks Youth Hockey Camps FAQ

How do I know when my child is registered?

  • We will email a confirmation to the email address given on the form. Please remember that online registration does not automatically guarantee a spot in camp. Camps do fill up fast, so we take registrations on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • We will email you confirmation of your son or daughter's spot approximately a week after you register.
  • If you are put on a waitlist, we will email you notification. We try to clear waitlists a week prior to camps..
  • Participant packets, including daily schedule, what to bring, what to expect and more, will be emailed out at least 2 weeks prior to camp.

How long should I expect my child to be at the rink each day?

  • Click here to see schedules for the 2019 Blackhawks Hockey Camps.
  • We ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes before your first session on the first day.

Which players will be at the camps?

Due to players' schedules, we cannot guarantee any players at camp, but we will do our best to invite them out if they are in town. However, we will have Blackhawks Alumni and/or Team USA members as special guests at various camps.

What will the on-ice sessions consist of?

The sessions will be geared toward skills such as power-skating, edgework, agility, puck-handling and shooting. Participants will also work on team skills, like 1v1, 2v2 and scrimmages. On the last day of camp (Friday), we will play a variety of games. This will be a fun day for parents and siblings to come watch!

What will the campers do when not on the ice?

Besides the two on-ice sessions, campers will enjoy:

  • Off-ice training: We've hired expert coaches who will take the campers through various off-ice training routines each day. Each session will be designed to fit the appropriate age and skill level. Campers will learn hockey-specific exercises that will help them improve their skills when they step on the ice.
  • Lunch session will be structured and supervised daily.
  • Classroom: A 30 minute classroom session will be offered every day.

Is lunch included?

Lunch is not included in the registration price. Depending on the camp location, there may be a concession stand or vending options. We will also give the option of a catered lunch each day. Participants are free to bring their own nut-free food to enjoy during the week. Be sure to pack plenty of snacks and fluids in addition to lunch.

Can I sign up for more than one camp?

Yes! As long as space is available.

Is full equipment required?

Yes. Full equipment for players is required, including:

  • Helmet with cage (HECC approved)
  • Hockey gloves
  • Shin pads
  • Elbow pads
  • Hockey pants
  • Hockey socks
  • Shoulder pads
  • Hockey skates
  • Stick
  • Jock/Jill
  • Neck and mouth guards (optional)

How much experience does my child need?

Any amount of experience is welcome! However, to maximize each child's experience, he or she may be asked to skate in a different age group depending on their skill level.
