Yip's Tally Named Play Of The Week

by Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
Forward Brandon Yip earned Avalanche "Play of the Week" honors for the Jan. 21-27 timeframe with his wraparound goal against the St. Louis Blues.

Yip's tally drew 40.01% of the fan voting, beating out Kevin Shattenkirk's wrister against St. Louis (30.76%) and Matt Duchene's cutback move versus Phoenix (29.23%).

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Yip’s Wraparound – 1/24 vs. St. Louis
Brandon Yip scored his second goal of night against St. Louis while the Avs were on a power play. Yip put a shot on goal from the low right circle that was stopped by Jaroslav Halak, but the winger grabbed the rebound, circled around the net and scored on a quick wraparound with 2:54 remaining in the middle frame.
