Yip's Goal Named Play of the Week

by - Official Site of the Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
Brandon Yip's first career goal has been named the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" for the Dec. 18-24 time period after taking home 40.53% of fan votes.

Yip's goal, which came in his third career game on Dec. 22 against Anaheim, beat out tallies by Chris Stewart (29.57%) and Matt Hendricks (29.90%), both of which came on Dec. 21 at Minnesota.

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Yip’s First Goal – 12/22 vs. Anaheim
Rookie Brandon Yip netted his first career NHL goal in just his third game. Yip first chipped a Brett Clark pass into Anaheim’s zone, where it was gathered by Matt Hendricks. Yip then skated into the right faceoff circle, where he took a return pass from Hendricks and fired a low shot past Anaheim goaltender Jonas Hiller.
