Having traded down from the 31st selection to the 39th, the Avalanche had the opportunity to make back-to-back choices at the top of the second round.

Colorado selected Anthony-John Greer from Boston University with the first selection and Nicolas Meloche from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar with the second.

Greer, a 6-foot-3, 204-pound wing, put up six points (two goals, four assists) in 35 games with BU last season.

Meloche tallied 34 points (10 goals, 24 assists) in 44 contests with the Drakkar. The 6-foot-2, 204-pound defenseman also had 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 12 postseason contests.
