A bit of "Play of the Week" history has been made, as for the first time ever, hits have been voted as the top play in back-to-back weeks.
This week, Ryan Wilson's monster check on St. Louis forward T.J. Oshie earned the honor by gaining 60.53% of the vote.
The hit beat out goals by Paul Stastny (20.61%) and Chris Stewart (18.86%).
The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.
Wilson Crushes Oshie – 12/7 @ St. Louis After receiving a pass from Carlo Colaiacovo near the Avalanche blue line, T.J. Oshie looked to carry the puck into the offensive zone. However, Oshie was met by rookie defenseman Ryan Wilson, who threw a thundering hit on the St. Louis forward.
