Pierre Turgeon was honored for his 500th career goal prior to Sunday night's game against the Sabres.
Turgeon joined fellow 500-goal club member Michel Goulet, who is currently the Avalanche's Special Assistant To The President, on the ice for the pre-game ceremony. Goulet presented Turgeon with a plaque that had each one of Turgeon's 500 career goals by date, opponent and goalie.
Turgeon scored his 500th career goal on Nov. 8 vs. San Jose, becoming the 34th player in NHL history to reach that milestone. He became the ninth active player to net 500 goals and joined Joe Sakic as the only players to score their 500th in a Nordiques/Avalanche sweater.
Turgeon scored the goal on a 5-on-3 power play at 9:16 of the third period, as he slammed home a goal-mouth pass from Marek Svatos to beat Vesa Toskala.
