Milan Hejduk earned Avalanche "Play of the Week" laurels for the Jan. 30 - Feb. 5 timeframe, marking the third consecutive week that a play from the winger has captured the fans' vote.
Hejduk's short-handed tally on Jan. 31 against Anaheim received 38.50% of the voting, edging Marek Svatos' goal on Feb. 2 versus Calgary (36.97%) and Ruslan Salei's big hit on Dallas' Stephane Robidas on Feb. 5 (24.53%).
The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans.
Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.
Hejduk Breaks Free – 1/31 vs. Anaheim Milan Hejduk notched his 18th goal of the season against the Anaheim Ducks – a tally that came with the Avalanche short-handed. The forward stole the puck from Ducks defenseman Bret Hedican and streaked in all alone before beating Jonas Hiller low stick side. The short-handed tally was the sixth of Hejduk’s career and his 303rd goal overall.
