Altitude Sports & Entertainment, the television home of the Avalanche, will broadcast the 2nd period of Friday night’s game against the Canadiens in black and white with an “old time” coverage style. The telecast changes are in celebration of the Canadiens’ 100th season playing in the NHL and will give viewers a flashback to what it was like when hockey was first shown on TV.

Altitude’s “old time” coverage will begin at the start of the 2nd period following an explanation from Mike Haynes and Peter McNab about the Canadiens’ 100th season and the history of the NHL on television. Style changes to the broadcast will include: the picture changing from color to black and white, a reduced number of cuts and camera angles during action, simpler graphics with player names in an old font style, simple dissolves to replays rather than animation, and Kyle Keefe reporting rinkside in old style coat and hat.
