DENVER, Co - Lincoln Financial Media on Thursday moved Denver’s AM sports leader, 950 The Fan (KKFN-AM), to the FM dial at 104.3, replacing the Smooth Jazz format that had been on the frequency for approximately eight years.
The New FM Sportsradio 104.3 The Fan debuted at 1 p.m. with co-hosts Scott Hastings and Alfred Williams. The on-air lineup also includes: “The Sports Guys” (Mike Evans, Sandy Clough, Thierry Smith from 5-10 a.m.); Jim Rome (10 a.m.-1 p.m.); Irv Brown, Joe Williams and Jim Armstrong (3-7 p.m.); Patrick Watkins (7-9 p.m.) and the Dan Patrick Show (9 p.m.-Midnight). Live broadcasts of Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets games will also move to the FM location.
The Fan will continue to be heard at 950 AM until March 31. A new format for 950 AM will be announced later this year.
“It’s exciting to offer The Fan listeners this all new experience of listening to sports talk and play-by-play on FM,” said Robert Call, Sr. VP/General Manager of LFM Radio/Denver. “The change also offers our valued clients an exceptional advertising platform by introducing Denver’s Sports Leader to a whole new FM audience.”
The Smooth Jazz format can still be streamed on the Internet at www.SmoothJazzDenver.com and on the high definition channel of KYGO-FM (HD 98.5-2).
“While I know our Smooth Jazz listeners are disappointed, they can still listen to it free on the Web or if they own an HD radio,” Call continued.
The staff of Smooth Jazz 104.3 would like to thank Denver’s Smooth Jazz Fans for their support over these past 8 years.
