Stoa Earns Play Of The Week Honors

by Colorado Avalanche / Colorado Avalanche
Forward Ryan Stoa earned Avalanche "Play of the Week" honors for the March 18-24 timeframe after scoring on his first career shootout attempt.

Stoa's shootout tally earned 44.56% of the vote, beating out Daniel Winnik's late goal against Columbus (33.16%) and Brian Elliott's incredible save on Blue Jackets defenseman Kris Russell (22.28%).

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Stoa’s Shootout Winner – 3/19 @ Edmonton
Ryan Stoa snapped the Avalanche’s winless skid by scoring the lone shootout goal against the Oilers. Lining up for his first career attempt following four unsuccessful shots by Edmonton and three by the Avs, Stoa made a quick shot fake and moved to his backhand before putting home the winner.
