Chris Stewart's game-winning tally in Game One of the Western Conference Quarterfinals was named the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" for the April 9-15 time period.
Stewart's goal took home 38.49% of the voting, topping a John-Michael Liles power-play tally (32.99%) and back-to-back saves by Craig Anderson (28.52%), both of which came in that same game against San Jose.
The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.
Stewart Gets A Bounce – 4/14 @ San Jose Being both good and a little lucky is a dangerous combination for the opposition. With the Sharks and Avs tied at 1-1 late in the third period, the T.J. Galiardi-Paul Stastny-Chris Stewart line had a great shift cycling the puck deep in San Jose’s zone. It ended with 49.3 seconds left when Stewart threw the puck at the goal from the right corner and it caromed off Rob Blake’s skate and into the net to give the Avalanche a 2-1 victory.
