Chris Stewart's goal on Dec. 13 against the Calgary Flames has been named the Avalanche's "Play of the Week" for the Dec. 11-17 timeframe after earning 43.05% of fan votes.
The goal beat out a Wojtek Wolski shootout tally (32.29%) and a Craig Anderson save (24.66%), both of which came on Dec. 11 against Tampa Bay.
The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.
Stewart’s Give-And-Go – 12/13 vs. Calgary After Wojtek Wolski had his shot stopped by Calgary goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff, the forward gathered the puck and sent a cross-ice feed to Chris Stewart just outside the goal crease. Stewart then made a quick pass to a cutting Paul Stastny, who flipped it right back. Stewart’s first shot was stopped, but he buried his own rebound for his seventh goal of the season.
