Stastny Sets Avalanche Rookie Scoring Record

by Staff Writer / Colorado Avalanche
With two goals and one assist on Tuesday night against the Flames, Paul Stastny established a new Avalanche single-season rookie scoring record with 53 points. He broke the previous mark of 51 points set by Alex Tanguay in 1999-2000.

Stastny's 53 points are the most by a franchise rookie since Andrei Kovalenko had 68 points for the Quebec Nordiques in 1992-93. Paul's father, Peter Stastny, holds the overall franchise record for points by a rookie with 109 in 1980-81.

"I didn't know about it but I'll take it as long as we got the win," Stastny said following the Avalanche's 4-3 victory over the Flames."If I can help the team win, I'll take it."
