Shattenkirk Earns Play Of The Week

by Staff Writer / Colorado Avalanche
Kevin Shattenkirk's first of two backdoor passes to Milan Hejduk in a game against the Dallas Stars earned "Avalanche Play of the Week" honors for the Nov. 19-25 timeframe, taking home 39.92% of fan votes.

The rookie's setup beat out a goal by Kevin Porter (37.86%) against Dallas and a Craig Anderson save (22.22%) against the New York Rangers.

The play now automatically qualifies for Colorado’s year-end “Play of the Year” bracket-style tournament – to be determined by Avalanche fans. Be sure to check back each Friday during the season, as three new choices for the Avalanche’s “Play of the Week” will be posted for you to vote upon.

Shattenkirk’s Setup – 11/20 @ Dallas
Rookie Kevin Shattenkirk showed off his impressive vision against the Stars, setting up veteran Milan Hejduk for a pair of nearly identical power-play goals. On this play, the first of the two Shattenkirk/Hejduk connections, the rookie threaded a pass from the top of the left circle down to Hejduk, who tapped it past Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen.
