Sasha Mutala prospect Tri-City Americans

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--The Colorado Avalanche chose forward Sasha Mutala with the No. 140 overall pick in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Draft on Saturday at Rogers Arena.
Mutala, 18, recorded 41 points (20 goals, 21 assists) in 65 games with the Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League in 2018-19 and added one assist in five playoff contests.

He had 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 68 outings during his rookie campaign in 2017-18 and added four points (one goal, three assists) in 14 postseason matchups. In total, he has produced 67 points (31 goals, 36 assists) in 136 WHL games.
Rated as the No. 79 North American skater in NHL Central Scouting's final rankings, he represented Canada at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Mutala recorded four points (two goals, two assists) in five contests to help his country win gold.
The 6-foot, 200-pound forward played for Canada Black at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and registered eight points (five goals, three assists) in five outings.
