With three assists on Monday in Nashville, Joe Sakic moved past Paul Coffey for 10th place on the all-time scoring list. Sakic's 1,533 career points lead all active players and are the fifth highest total for a single franchise in NHL history.
NHL ALL-TIME SCORING LEADERS
Sakic earlier this season became just the 11th player in NHL history to reach 1,500 points with an assist on Oct. 25 vs. Washington.
The Avalanche captain also leads all active players with 942 assists. He has jumped from 15th to 12th on the career assist list this year, passing Stan Mikita, Larry Murphy and Al MacInnis ... Sakic ranks third among active players in goals (591), trailing only Brendan Shanahan and Jaromir Jagr. He needs nine markers for 600, a milestone reached by only 16 others.
Sakic is in his 18th season in the NHL, all with the Colorado Avalanche/Quebec Nordiques. No other active player has been with the same team for a longer period of time. Joe is serving as team captain for the 14th consecutive season (15th season overall), also the longest current streak in the league.
